Working with solicitors to support clients after brain injury

When a client has suffered a brain injury, getting the right rehabilitation support in place quickly makes a real difference to their recovery and long-term outcomes. Hawkley Rehab works alongside solicitors to provide expert case management for children and adults from the point of instruction through to long-term coordination of care.

We work with clients who have experienced traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, and birth-related brain injuries including hypoxic birth injury and cerebral palsy.

Immediate Needs Assessment (INA)

An INA is usually the first step after instruction. We carry out a thorough assessment of the client’s current situation: their medical needs, rehabilitation requirements, living arrangements, and support network. The report sets out what is needed now and what should be planned for, giving solicitors a clear picture to work from. We aim to have the INA report back to the solicitor within ten days after the INA meeting.

Case Management Plan

Following assessment, we develop a detailed plan tailored to the client’s specific needs. This covers the rehabilitation goals, the professionals and services to be involved, timescales, and how progress will be measured. The plan is kept under review and updated as the client’s situation changes.

Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation

We build and coordinate the team around the client, bringing together the right therapists, healthcare providers, and support services to deliver a joined-up programme of rehabilitation. We manage communication between all parties so that nothing falls through the gaps and the client and their family always know what is happening.

Ongoing Case Management

Many of our clients need support over an extended period. We provide consistent, proactive case management for as long as it is needed, coordinating services, attending reviews, and adapting the plan as the client progresses. Families and solicitors have a single point of contact throughout.

We work with adults with traumatic brain injury (TBI), adults with acquired brain injury (ABI), children and young people with acquired brain injury, and children with birth-related brain injuries including hypoxic birth injury and cerebral palsy.
